Spacing

Add spaces between Chinese and English

Correct:

Incorrect:

Full correct usage:

在 LeanCloud 上，数据存储是围绕 AVObject 进行的。每个 AVObject 都包含了与 JSON 兼容的 key-value 对应的数据。数据是 schema-free 的，你不需要在每个 AVObject 上提前指定存在哪些键，只要直接设定对应的 key-value 即可。

Exception: Product names like “豆瓣 FM” should follow the official format.

Add spaces between Chinese and numbers

Add spaces between numbers and units

Correct:

Exception: No space needed between numbers and degrees/percentages:

No spaces between full-width punctuation and other characters

Correct:

Use text-spacing?

CSS Text Module Level 4’s text-spacing and Microsoft’s -ms-text-autospace can automatically add spaces between Chinese and English. However, this is not widely supported yet, and in other scenarios (macOS, iOS, Windows UI), this feature does not exist. So, please keep the habit of adding spaces manually.

Punctuation

Do not repeat punctuation marks

Although repeated punctuation is allowed in Mainland China, it affects the aesthetics of sentences.

Correct:

德国队竟然战胜了巴西队！

她竟然对你说「喵」？！

Incorrect:

德国队竟然战胜了巴西队！！

德国队竟然战胜了巴西队！！！！！！！！

她竟然对你说「喵」？？！！

她竟然对你说「喵」？！？！？？！！

Full-width and Half-width

Not sure what full-width and half-width characters are? See the Wikipedia entry: 全角和半角.

Use full-width Chinese punctuation

Correct:

嗨！你知道嘛？今天前台的小妹跟我说「喵」了哎！

Incorrect:

嗨！你知道嘛？今天前台的小妹跟我说 “喵” 了哎！

Exception: When referencing English book or newspaper titles in Chinese sentences, use English italics instead of Chinese book title marks.

Use half-width numbers

Correct:

这个蛋糕只卖 1000 元。

Incorrect:

这个蛋糕只卖 １０００ 元。

Exception: In design drafts or posters, full-width numbers may be used for alignment.

For complete English sentences or special terms, use half-width punctuation

Correct:

乔布斯那句话是怎么说的？「Stay hungry, stay foolish.」

Capitalization is mainly an English writing rule, but here are some common mistakes.
